NEW: Lumenera’s 9.1 MP Sony ICX814 Quad-Tap CCD Camera with High-Speed USB 3.0

Lt665RThe Lt965R is Lumenera’s latest high-performance USB 3.0 CCD camera that draws the most from the industry leading Sony EXview HAD II sensor technology. The ICX814 sensor-based Lt965R reliably delivers full resolution frames at the maximum achievable speed of 19fps with Lumenera’s quad-tap implementation, coupled with USB 3.0.

This camera is ideal for industrial and scientific applications where high resolution and sensitivity are critical.

The Lt965R maximizes the Sony ICX814, 1” format sensor, to provide high dynamic range, speed, and excellent anti-blooming characteristics. High quality, low noise electronics ensure clear and sharp images rendering details with amazing accuracy. Superior responsiveness up to 1000nm positions it as a good choice for Near-Infrared (NIR) imaging.

The camera includes 128 MB of onboard memory for frame buffering, which ensures dependable and reliable image delivery even in the most demanding environments.  This camera also features Lumenera’s advanced tap matching process that ensures seamless images across large temperature and gain ranges.

The locking USB 3.0 cabling and digital interface ensures a simple plug-and-play installation. No frame grabber is required. Simplified I/O cabling is provided through a locking Hirose connector supporting external power input along with 1 optically isolated output, 1 optically isolated input and 2 configurable I/O ports. Lumenera’s innovative design supports an optional USB 3.0 High Power mode that allows the camera to function over a USB 3.0 Y-cable connected to 2 host USB 3.0 ports thus eliminating the need to use a power supply.

Lumenera Announces USB3 Vision Certified Cameras

Lumenera’s High Performance Lt Camera Series Receives USB3 Vision Certification from the AIA

Lumenera Corporation, announces that their high performance USB 3.0 cameras, the Lt Camera Series, received certification with the USB3 Vision standard, which is appointed by the world's largest machine vision trade association, the AIA.

“USB3 Vision certification is a key strategic component for our industrial and scientific product line and roadmap,” stated Nick Bulitka, Director of Business Technology Research. “Introducing USB3 Vision support in our cameras allows vision users and integrators to now leverage some of the highest performance camera technology on the market in an easy to use configuration within their USB3 Vision based system, marrying high performance and simplicity.”

USB3 Vision, which is defined by the AIA, ensures that certified products are interoperable with a standard set of interfaces and APIs. This enables Lumenera cameras to work with a wider suite of third party software. The USB3 Vision interface is based on the standard USB 3.0 interface and uses USB 3.0 ports that will soon be standard on most PCs.

“While we have a large number of software partners that have developed drivers for our cameras, including our USB 2.0 solutions, being USB3 Vision certified adds support to simplify third party application integration for our customers,” said Dany Longval, Vice President, Worldwide Sales.

TECHNOLOGY PROFILE: USING SENSORS TO OPTIMIZE IMAGE CAPTURE IN TRAFFIC APPLICATIONS

With dynamic imaging conditions, design restrictions and local laws heavily impacting the way that traffic imaging systems can be designed and deployed, ITS companies are continually
looking for ways to improve their technologies in order provide the best possible hit rate.

Environmental conditions, for example, can impact the ability of a system to capture details in a field of view (FOV) in varying day/night conditions. It is essential that traffic and tolling systems can capture detailed images of fast-moving objects while dealing with reflections from vehicle components as the sun moves through the sky. Traffic Technology

Twice as effective: One scenario that requires a solution beyond standard imaging is red light enforcement at night. How can authorities effectively capture an image of the vehicle license plate and also the face of the driver? As many license plates have strong reflective properties, the intensity of the camera flash needs to be scaled back, or timing adjusted, to ensure the details of the plate can be recognized....

LUMENERA’s EVENT LISTINGS

LUMENERA AT THE VISION SHOW: Lumenera exhibited at the Vision show, November 4-6, in Stuttgart Germany.

Lumenera provided a live demonstration using two of our USB 3.0 cameras — the Lt965R and theLt665R. The demonstration was built around an antique record player in which the Lt965R accurately defined text with each frame (as a traffic application would need to), while the Lt665R recognizes unique objects (in this case, a holographic image, which is indicative of an inspection application).

The Lt965R is based on a Sony EXview HAD II ICX814 CCD image sensor, which is available in both color and monochrome models and achieves 19 fps at full 3376 x 2704 resolution. The Lt665R which features a 1” Sony EXview HAD II ICX694 CCD image sensor, available in color or monochrome, and achieves a frame rate of 27 fps at full 2752 x 2192 resolution.

Traffic Vision: Lumenera was featured in an interview with Traffic Vision, which was filmed on the opening day of the show in Stuttgart. The video focuses on our ITS solutions, and latest products. To view the video, please click here.
