PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

LUMENERA'S INFINITY3 SERIES

The INFINITY3 CCD microscopy cameras offer excellent light sensitivity and utilize a unique noise reduction technology that includes high grade components, low noise electronics and improved thermal management techniques, making this series of cameras best in class.

Ranging from 1.4 to 6.0 megapixel resolutions, these USB 3.0, high dynamic range camera models are available in the INFINITY3 series:

INFINITY3S-1UR: Ultra-Sensitive 1.4 MP CCD Camera

Our new INFINITY3S-1UR incorporates Sony's new ICX825 CCD sensor, producing the sensitivity needed for challenging low light applications such as fluorscence. Highlights include high dynamic range, high quantum efficiency, low noise, and an industry-leading 60 frames per second (fps) for mono, 45 fps for color. More info on the INFINITY3S-1UR.

INFINITY3-3UR: Low Noise 2.8 MP CCD Camera

The INFINITY3-3UR camera features a Sony ICX674 CCD sensor, offers 53 fps at full 2.8 megapixel resolution via a high-speed USB 3.0 interface. Designed for use in scientific and industrial applications requiring optimal color reproduction, extreme sensitivity, increased resolution and high speed. More info on the INFINITY3-3UR.

INFINITY3-6UR: High Resolution 6 MP CCD Camera

The INFINITY3-6UR is built on Sony's 6.1 megapixel EXview HAD II CCD sensor and offers extremely high resolution and high dynamic range. To maximize the sensitivity of the new INFINITY3-6UR, Lumenera used a new larger 1" format Sony ICX694 sensor, offering a larger active surface area than the INFINITY3-3UR. More info on the INFINITY3-6UR.

FEATURED ARTICLE IN SELECT SCIENCE

"Introducing the New INFINITY3S-1UR from Lumenera"

3s cameraExcerpt: The Sony ICX825 CCD sensor produces a 70% improvement in sensitivity over the popular ICX285 sensor. This sensor technology offers extremely high quantum efficiency, high dynamic range, 6.45 x 6.45 um pixels and very low noise of 5.9 e-. The research-grade designation of the INFINITY3S-1UR is a testament to low noise electronics, high-grade components and unique thermal management techniques.

"Capturing Accurate Color Through Demosaicing"

Bayer patternCapturing true and accurate color has always been one of the biggest challenges in digital imaging. Since monochrome sensors can only measure the intensity of light and are agnostic to its color, a method was devised to measure the intensity of a specific color of light over each pixel. This method involves placing small filters of alternating color over each pixel using a Bayer pattern.

"Imaging in Life Science: Automated Cell Counters"

Bayer patternGrowing cells in culture dishes or flasks has been in practice for many decades. Traditionally samples from these flasks are collected on a regular basis to determine, among other things, their density and viability. Along with visual inspection of the flasks under a microscope, it was common practice to determine both density and viability using an instrument called a haemocytometer. This manual method was accurate but it had its disadvantages. Continually cleaning, counting and manually logging data was a tedious process. Furthermore, there were biohazard considerations to take into account when carrying out this manual process.
