Lumenera’s New Lg235 Gigabit Ethernet Camera

Lumenera recently introduced the Lg235 2.0 megapixel Gigabit Ethernet vision camera. This CCD megapixel camera is the ideal imaging solution for low-light conditions where high dynamic range is required, and situations with tight space constraints.

The Lg235 is a compact high megapixel digital camera offering outstanding image quality and value. Major features of this newly released camera include: 25 fps at full 1616 x 1216 resolution, locking Hirose HR10A-10R-12PB GPI/O connector, locking power connector and on-board processing. An electronic global shutter provides capabilities similar to a mechanical shutter, allowing simultaneous integration of the entire pixel array – ideal for capturing objects in high-speed motion or synchronizing with strobe lighting.

Advanced camera control is available through a complete Software Developer’s Kit (SDK), with sample code available to quickly integrate camera functions into OEM applications. Fully featured Windows API interface for ease of application development that is compatible with existing Lumenera USB 2.0 cameras. Hardware and software based synchronization trigger is provided standard.

The Challenges of Creating Your Own Camera Design

In today’s market it is easy to find sensor manufacturers providing reference design kits on how to build a custom camera. It may seem like an easy undertaking that is simply a matter of putting two chips onto a board to create a working solution. Unfortunately, creating a quality high resolution camera is not so simple.

Many organizations see the benefits of creating a camera in-house to address their imaging needs. Keeping costs down, ensuring a camera solution that resolves issues and organizational privacy are all incentives to dedicating time and money to developing an imaging solution internally.

There are some noteworthy challenges that must be realized before undertaking a camera design project in-house. Click here to view Lumenera’s Product Manager, Darren Bessette, present the benefits and challenges of building your own camera in-house.

Case Study: Lumenera’s Industrial USB 2.0 Cameras Protect Injection Molding Machines

Injection molding is a widely used process for manufacturing a variety of parts from small components to a whole finished piece. Plastic material is fed into a heated barrel, mixed and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold. A plastic injection molding machine can cost an organization $100K to over half a million dollars. Molding plates add anywhere from several thousand to over $100K for a single design. As machines of high monetary and production value, manufacturers are keen to ensure they are carefully maintained and protected.

A well known mold inspection equipment provider has developed a machine vision system that utilizes Lumenera’s Lu105M USB 2.0 industrial camera to protect these machines and parts from costly damage, lost production time and delayed deliveries.

CORPORATE NEWS

New Process Improves Efficiency and Pricing for Out-of-Warranty and Voided-Warranty Camera Repairs

Effective April 1, 2010, Lumenera will be introducing a new repair process for Out-of-Warranty and Voided-Warranty cameras that includes an update to repair costs.

To better service our customers and keep costs relative to purchase price, Lumenera will begin determining repair charges based upon the camera's model, parts, and labor related to the repair and the sensitivity of the work required. There will be a minimum charge of US$200 for any Out-of-Warranty and Voided-Warranty camera repair.

Out-of-Warranty and Voided-Warranty cameras sent in for repair will be assessed in triage to identify the damage or problem area. We will provide the camera owner with an estimate of the repair cost prior to the work being completed. No work will commence until this quote is approved by the camera owner.
