Applying Color to a Fluorescent Monochrome Image Using INFINITY ANALYZE Image Analysis Software

To take full advantage of the INFINITY3 series of low light cameras, researchers will often choose a monochrome version for its extra sensitivity. By removing the camera’s Bayer filter, the sensitivity can increase by as much as 30%, which is critical in extremely low light environments and when using fluorochromes.

INFINITY ANALYZE image analysis software, which is included with all INFINITY3 series cameras, allows users to apply color and combine up to three monochrome images with a single click. This can be accomplished in two ways:

Combine:
The first method simply involves placing the images into the field group in the following order: red, green, blue. Next choose Combine in the Field – Math dropdown toolbar. The resulting colorized image will be a combination of the three monochrome images.

Combine Interactively:
The second method allows users to choose the color applied to each image. You may view the monochrome, colored or composite image prior to combining and applying color, adjusting the Look-up-Tables (LUT) and performing a variety of functions on the image.
