Lumenera's NEW 32 Megapixel CCD Pixel Shifting Camera
Lumenera is pleased to introduce the new INFINITYX-32 pixel shifting camera, specifically designed for customers in the clinical, life and material science fields. This complete imaging solution is an extraordinary tool for professionals who require:
- Extremely high multi-megapixel resolution
- Sub-pixel detail
- Precise color accuracy
- High sensitivity
- 12-bit data
- Low noise levels
This latest addition to the INFINITYX line of unique pixel shifting cameras is a 12-bit digital CCD camera equipped with a native 2 megapixel Sony sensor. This camera transfers streaming video at full 2 megapixel resolution over a standard USB 2.0 interface at a rate of 12 frames per second. Incorporating DeltaVu™ pixel shifting technology provides a combination of unmatched high-resolution and outstanding color fidelity when capturing digital still images. The sensitivity characteristics of the CCD sensor make this camera suitable for a wide variety of imaging applications including low light imaging.
Although we recommend using the highest numerical aperture lenses possible, the INFINITYX-32 offers a variety of capture resolution options, allowing the user to match image resolution to the maximum resolving power of their microscope objectives. The two standard ¼-20 inch thread, tripod mounting points facilitate the use of the camera on a tripod or with a copy stand. When placed on a stand or a tripod, standard macro lenses can be used with the INFINITYX-32. Users will quickly realize that they can maximize spatial resolution over a wide field of view by selecting the camera's upper ranges of resolution.
The 1/1.8” interline Sony megapixel sensor has a pixel array of 1616 X 1216 with 4.4 micron square pixels. Traditional cameras make use of a combination of the Bayer mask over the pixel array, and color interpolation to generate the full color information in each pixel. Depending on the demands of the application, color aliasing can at times result in less than ideal color information. Given its ability to perform multiple exposures via shifting the pixel array in sub-pixel increments, the INFINITYX-32 effectively captures all primary red, green and blue color information into each pixel on the array. Results are evident in the consistent superior color fidelity.
Whether using the INFINITYX-32 with a basic lensing system, or with research grade infinity corrected microscopes, this camera is an ideal and flexible tool for a wide variety of applications demanding exact color reproduction and maximum spatial resolution.
Research scientists in multiple disciplines, clinical pathologists, material inspectors and forensic investigators are a few examples of the many user's who have found INFINITYX cameras an invaluable addition to their information gathering and documentation systems.

PARTNERSHIP
Lumenera Develops Solid OEM Partnership with Opticare
Over the past three years, Lumenera has developed a strong partnership with the Argentinean-based Opticare. Drawing on Lumenera's wide range of USB 2.0 cameras and unique customization capabilities, Opticare has developed focused product offerings for the ophthalmic market in South America.
Established in 1976 by its President Pedro Faulhaber, Opticare has grown to be recognized as South America’s premier distributor of Topcon Ophthalmic Instrumentation, excimer lasers, and digital imaging systems, distributing locally as well as to South and Central American countries.
Opticare's strengths include a highly trained sales team and professional service engineers. Opticare has leveraged its experience in ophthalmic hardware, digital imaging and software suites to integrate turn-key systems. Opticare’s fundus camera-based systems leverage Lumenera’s Lw165 and Lw235 color and monochrome cameras with high sensitivity in the near infrared, to acquire retinal color fundus, fluorescein, ICG and auto fluorescence images.
Lumenera’s OEM products were selected for their outstanding picture quality, alternate form-factors, unique mechanicals and affordable prices. Additionally, Lumenera’s Application Engineering Group nicely complimented Opticare’s expertise in the ophthalmic market, making it possible to integrate the cameras best suited to diagnostic requirements while maintaining competitive price points.
“As a company, Lumenera strives to provide world class OEM imaging products and integration services." stated Larry Whelan, Director of Scientific Business Development, Lumenera. “Partnering with Opticare allows us to gain a better understanding of the market’s requirements, and offers us the opportunity to help them grow their business through timely development at competitive pricing.”
Opticare's sales and service engineers and professional programmers research, develop and maintain its software suites, and manufacture video relay lenses and synchronization boards for its various models of new, existing and used retinal cameras.
