Lumenera's CCD Security Camera Line

In addition to the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor technology found in most IP surveillance cameras, Lumenera offers a broad range of Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) network cameras. Compared to CMOS-based alternatives, our CCD cameras provide much greater light sensitivity and clearer, sharper images. These features make our CCD cameras the preferred choice for low-light imaging, intrusion detection, evidence gathering, and monitoring moving vehicles.

Lumenera’s Le075, Le165, Le259, and Le11059 CCD cameras deliver outstanding picture quality, resolution, and performance. JPEG still-images or MJPEG live streaming video are provided across a standard 10/100BaseT Ethernet interface. Users have the option to adjust the compression level to enable them to manage their network usage.

Our CCD cameras provide a global electronic shutter and progressive scan readout. These features eliminate artifacts seen in many analog and CMOS-based cameras. The result is clearer images, free of distortion, even when imaging rapidly moving objects.

Programmable day/night settings automatically switch to enhanced low-light mode. The Le075C-DN and Le165C-DN day/night models include a true day/night filter mechanism. This robust, field-proven design blocks infrared light in the day to ensure accurate color. At night, the day/night camera transmits infrared light to boost sensitivity and to work with active infrared light sources for night vision.

  • The Le075 VGA camera captures 70 fps at full 640x480 resolution and is ideally suited for traffic monitoring. This is the preferred choice where high frame rates are required or when storage capacity or bandwidth is limited. An Le075C-DN day/night variant is also available.
  • Featuring superb sensitivity and 15 fps at full 1376 x 1032 resolution, the Le165 is ideal for low light surveillance. Very low noise and high dynamic range provide consistently clear and sharp images. Ideally suited for ports of entry, perimiter and border security, license plate recognition and identifying people or objects. This model is also available in a day/night version as the Le165C-DN.
  • The Le259 captures 15 fps at full 1920 x 1080 resolution and is ideally suited for monitoring wide fields of view. The large CCD sensor uses progressive scan technology - designed for capturing high-speed moving objects. This camera is compatible with a wide variety of off-the-shelf 35mm photographic lenses for maximum flexibility. Hassle-free, remote adjustment of the lens over the network saves time and money during and after deployment.
  • The Le11059 captures 3 fps at full 4000x2656 resolution with outstanding picture quality. A large 35mm format CCD sensor is capable of scanning 2600+ lines of resolution using progressive scan technology – an ideal solution for capturing moving objects across broad areas, monitoring multiple lanes of traffic and parking lots, panoramic imaging, and military applications. The Le11059 is compatible with a broad selection of 35mm lenses, and provides easy remote lens adjustment over the network.

Lumenera's Product Nomenclature

Lumenera's product nomenclature identifies specific camera characteristics, including interface, camera mount and resolution. Here’s an example of how to order your Ethernet camera:

Le165C-DN

  • Le = identifies “Lumenera Ethernet” network camera products
  • 1 = approximate resolution in megapixel (1.4 megapixel in this example)
  • 6 = image sensor family
  • 5 = standard CS-mount camera (9 indicates 35mm EF-mount lens format)
  • C = color (M=monochrome)
  • DN = day/night option with infrared filter shuttle mechanism

LEARN HOW OUR CAMERAS ARE BEING USED

Lumenera’s Li-Series Cameras for Border and Perimeter Security Applications

The traditional role of the camera in border and perimeter security applications is primarily to provide accurate and rapid assessment of alarms through high-quality images, both day and night, and in a variety of lighting and weather conditions.

Today, video content analytics embedded in Lumenera’s Li-series cameras improve these conditions by providing specific and timely alerts to the control room based on the images from the cameras.  Video analytics embedded in the camera operating at the network edge provide a much more scalable and cost-effective system, with lower latency between real-world events and operator alerts. Accurate rules-based alerts provide low nuisance alarm rates and shorter response times. Rules can specifically identify the location and behavior of people, vehicles, or objects relative to defined areas. Easy-to-use filters are available to exclude alarms due to nuisance factors, such as small animals, rain or snow, or falling leaves.

The video analytics functions serve as an aid to the security control room personnel by reducing operator fatigue, increasing motivation, and improving decision making and response time. By providing an automated display highlighting a potential intrusion alarm, rules-based content analysis embedded in the camera reduces false alarm rates, and provides automated alert display and logging. The presence of a highlighted visual display of a specific alert helps the person on duty take quick and appropriate action.

Lumenera’s Li045 cameras use the Pixim Orca chip set to provide rapid and effective responses to challenging and ever-changing high-contrast lighting situations. This has a broad applicability to both outdoor and indoor situations that may include bright daylight or spotlights as well as shadows. The same Pixim image sensor technology allows one to view the interior of vehicles which are always shaded, in a variety of conditions. The level of JPEG compression can be specified by the user or set automatically, depending on image quality, bandwidth and storage requirements.

Lumenera's intelligent camera products use ObjectVideo's OnBoard™ embedded video analytics software. Using a simple graphical user interface, one may configure specific rules related to the position and behavior of persons, vehicles, or objects, that can be used to track alarms and/or log them. Basic examples involve the appearance or entry of a person or vehicle, as well as defining tripwire rules that specify the forbidden direction of travel. The same capabilities can be used to count persons or vehicles, or to measure the time or speed of travel.
