LUMENERA PARTNERS WITH OBJECT VIDEO TO PROVIDE SEAMLESS INTEGRATION FOR INTELLIGENT CAMERAS

Lumenera's Li series award-winning intelligent cameras are already making their mark in the video surveillance industry using embedded video content analysis software from Technology Parter ObjectVideo®.  Building on this existing partnership, Lumenera is working with ObjectVideo to deliver solutions utilizing OV Ready, a new offering from ObjectVideo that adopts standard XML-formatted communications to provide a seamless interface for integrating networked intelligent video surveillance devices such as cameras and network video recorders. The result is even faster and more seamless integration of intelligent cameras with industry-leading video management software and hardware solutions. This will help expedite, simplify and cost-reduce the deployment of intelligent video capabilities.

Lumenera currently manufactures Li series cameras that use on-camera ObjectVideo OnBoard™ software to issue rule based alerts. By performing video content analysis at the edge of the network, Lumenera’s intelligent cameras offer a drastic reduction in false alarms over more primitive video motion detection systems. A system administrator is able to load specific rules on each camera that alert control center operators and record the alert in a database whenever a specific incident occurs. The rules are built around specific behaviors of people,vehicles and objects in relation to their surroundings. Examples include abandoned luggage, stolen objects, a person appearing in a forbidden zone or a vehicle entering or exiting a restricted area. By the very nature of rules-based software, it is possible to distinguish inanimate objects, people and vehicles, and also filter out objects that are over-sized or under-sized. This specificity results in an exceptionally low rate of false alarms, virtually eliminating the need for additional sensors and the associated costs of installation and maintenance.

Lumenera’s Li series cameras provide several significant performance advantages that go beyond false alarm reduction. Video analytics software at the edge generates alerts with the lowest possible latency in a system with multiple cameras, since the intelligent camera actions the alert without resorting to any other system resources. New features are being added to scale frame rate, image quality and resolution - based on alert status. Enabled-at-the-edge system architecture eliminates the largest delays, bottlenecks and reliability issues associated with image data transmission and processing to be found in more cumbersome host-based implementations.
