Lumenera Announces INFINITY Camera Plug-in for ImageJ in Macintosh
ImageJ is a public domain program developed by the National Institute of Health to support medical research, life science and materials science imaging applications. A wide variety of custom image acquisition, processing and analysis plug-ins have been developed for use with this popular, Java-based program.
Lumenera has introduced a plug-in allowing customers using this application on Macintosh computers to completely control Lumenera’s INFINITY cameras. Starting this month, the INFINITY Mac plug-in is shipping with INFINITY 1, 2, 3, 4 and X-21 cameras, and is also downloadable from our website at www.lumenera.com/support/download.php.
Additional information on ImageJ can be obtained from the NIH website at: http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/download.html
C-Mount Back Focus Adjustment User's Guide
Lumenera recently announced that all INFINITY 1, 2, 3 and X-21 cameras include a C-mount back focus adjustment ring, enabling users to easily improve parfocality with a microscope trinocular port.
Digital cameras have become a basic tool for microscopes. Mounting a camera on a microscope requires the addition of a trinocular port to the basic microscope stand. Light from the sample passes through a prism splitting the beam into two paths, one to the microscope's eyepieces and one to the camera. When these two light paths vary in distance, the sharpness of the sample viewed through the eyepieces and the camera may be different. These slight differences can be corrected using the camera's back focus adjustment ring by following these next steps:

PARTNERSHIP
New Media Cybernetics INFINITY Camera Driver
Lumenera’s INFINITY USB 2.0 microscope cameras, with their wide variety of sensors and resolutions, have long been recognized as leaders in the scientific imaging market. Building on this success, Lumenera has announced the release of a driver for Media Cybernetics’s Image Pro® image analysis software. Developed in partnership with Media Cybernetics, this driver allows complete camera control and is fully compatible with four of our most popular INFINITY camera models - the entire INFINITY1 series and the INFINITY2-1.
INFINITY camera customers, microscopy dealers and systems integrators can take full advantage of the combined camera and image analysis features by downloading the driver at http://support.mediacy.com/drivers.asp, and are welcome to contact Media Cybernetics for application support. Integration with additional camera models to come.

EXCITING PROJECTS
Lumenera Wins $500K Business for Scientific OEM Microscopy System
Company selected for its extensive expertise in customized digital imaging solutions
Lumenera is pleased to announce a repeat order in the amount of $500K for its OEM board level scientific cooled camera modules.
For the third year in a row, a biomedical imaging company specializing in automated microscope systems has selected Lumenera’s board level camera for integration into its life science instrument. Lumenera’s expertise in custom products and OEM imaging solutions enabled it to meet this customer’s special form factor and low light level requirements. Lumenera’s cooled camera module provides Peltier cooling to 25 degrees Celsius below ambient, reducing noise levels and making it ideal for applications with challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, Lumenera’s common Software Developer’s Kit with its sample code allowed quick integration of camera functions into this OEM application. Having previously purchased a 2 megapixel board level camera for use in a non-cooled instrument, integration of this new cooled version was both quick and easy with the common software platform.
“Lumenera’s extensive expertise in custom cameras and OEM imaging solutions is unsurpassed,” stated Larry Whelan, Director of Business Development, Lumenera Corporation. “Our wide variety of custom form factors, sensor technologies and a common API improve time-to-market and reduce development costs and risks for OEM instrumentation projects. Our ability to fulfill custom projects and respond quickly to changing needs has resulted in a continual increase in demand for OEM products with both new and existing customers.”
The camera modules will be manufactured in Ottawa, Ontario and shipped over the course of 2008. For more information on Lumenera’s OEM and custom products, visit www.lumenera.com.
