LUMENERA SCIENTIFIC APPOINTS INDUSTRY VETERAN LARRY WHELAN AS DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - July 31, 2003 - Lumenera Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of high performance digital cameras and imaging solutions, today announced the appointment of Larry Whelan as Director of Business Development, Scientific Division.

Mr. Whelan will be responsible for spearheading strategies and managing the company’s worldwide sales, business development and distribution network for the Infinity line of scientific cameras.

Before joining Lumenera Corporation, Mr. Whelan was responsible for major account sales with Fisher Scientific. Prior to this, Mr. Whelan spent several years in account sales within the digital imaging industry.

Mr. Whelan’s experience includes serving for 12 years with BIO-RAD Laboratories as a territory sales manager. During his tenure at BIO-RAD, he also served as a National Instrumentation Specialist, for life science imaging products including gel-documentation and confocal microscopes. Mr. Whelan also served as a Research Assistant at the Montreal General Hospital, in Neuroscience Research. Mr. Whelan holds a bachelor's degree in Science from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
