Ottawa Homeless and Women’s shelters are always in need of some very basics items such as towels and because of the generosity of Lumenera’s employees, 106 towels were donated to help those in need.
Thanks to all the Lumenera Mo Bro’s who participated in this year’s Movember campaign, Lumenera was able to raise $3,589. A big thanks also goes to all of the Movember supporters: those who attended the kick-off, the wrap up and/or donated to the team. The funds raised support the number one male cancer, prostate cancer.
Throughout 2010 we have held various functions to raise money for the United Way Centraide Ottawa. These activities included a pancake breakfast, 50/50 draws and a book sale.
Several of our staff participated in the annual Santa Shuffle Fun Run & Elf Walk to help The Salvation Army assist families and individuals in need during the Holiday season and throughout the year.
Lumenera participates in an annual Toy Mountain Campaign to help the Salvation Army distribute toys to Ottawa's less fortunate children.
During the summer of 2009 Lumenera hosted a carnival day featuring a dunk tank and pie throwing station. Staff were able to 'dunk' or 'pie' their co-worker for a donation to charity. The recipient of these funds was the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Donations were matched by Lumenera.
Many of our staff compete in our annual food bank challenge where groups are pitted against each other to see who can bring in the most needed goods all in support of The Ottawa Food Bank. Winners are determined by weight of food.
Every year a team of Lumenera staffers participate in the H.O.P.E. Volleyball Summerfest charity tournament. H.O.P.E. supports various charities in the National Capital region. In its history, H.O.P.E. has provided over $5 million to more than 100 Ottawa charities. In 2011 Lumenera helped H.O.P.E. break the Guinness record for the Largest One Day Volleyball Event in theWorld!
Lumenera's headquarters feature paintings created by H'Art of Ottawa - a unique and innovative art and literacy program for adults with developmental disabilities that helps develop career and life skills, encourages self-expression and provides a sense of place. Funds raised through the sale of paintings go to the artists and help support the studio and program.
In addition to our Community Support, Lumenera also gives back to the community through it's Going Green Program. This continuous philosophical change is fully supported by the Green Team, Lumenera's Management and staff. Read more about the green initiative at Lumenera!
